Hearing claims that the United States election system is “rigged” is nothing new to 2016 and – seeing that the claims always come from loons – I always disregarded it. But, as the election continues on… I am slowly thinking otherwise. Could the election be rigged? Of course not. But it is absolutely unfair and undemocratic.
Claiming that the election is rigged is such an outlandish statement only because “rigged” infers that there is a plan – an agenda – behind the election. People who claim the election is rigged (the far right and far left) seem to think that there is an invisible hand deciding the fate of each election. Those same people who kicked and screamed that Obama was an outsider are the same people who now think Obama is the system. No matter what happens, conspirators claim the system is rigged. This is how you play tennis without the net.
The very first hint of an unfair election was the Hillary – Sanders conflict. Not to mention the way Bernie and his delegates were treated during the primaries, and the Super Delegate system; Wikileaks has provided us with absolute proof the Democratic party was actively plotting against Bernie Sanders. Within the Democratic Party emails, there were remarks such as:
“If she outperforms this polling, the Bernie camp will go nuts and allege misconduct. They’ll probably complain regardless, actually” regarding New Hampshire primaries
“Wondering if there’s a good Bernie narrative for a story, which is that Bernie never ever had his act together, that his campaign was a mess,” said DNC official Mark Paustenbach
“This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist” said DNC CFO Brad Marshall.
Yes, they were actively planning to use Sander’s religion against him. We can no longer assume the Democratic party is actually Democratic. No rational human being can ever say this process is Democratic. In addition to the primary scam, the issue of Debbie Shultz comes into play. She defiantly had a hand in the Wikileak scandal, but now there is talk as to her connection with Hillary’s pick for VP. Hillary was able to get Debbie Shultz in position of party chairman – in return, she was able to influence the primary to get Clinton the nomination. To get Shultz that position, she had to get someone to step down – that was Tim Kaine. Now that Shultz took the hit, Tim Kaine is the Vice Presidential nominee. That is the theory anyway – and it is far more believable now that we know the Democratic party has a flawed system.
The actions by the Democratic party is extreme contemptible, immoral, and completely unfair to the candidates and the voters. The party has an agenda to be precisely un-democratic and they should be ashamed. There should be action against them to protect the will of the people. The party seems to have gotten away without any trouble.
Now, with the pitiful excuse for a primary is over, the humble voter has to wonder: how can we be sure the election itself isn’t rigged. There seems to be no way to know that third parties are being treated fairly. Despite one’s political views, fair elections are absolutely necessary for a democratic country. Without one – we are in a banana republic – unsure that our votes mean anything.
I am not saying that we should be jumping to the extreme conclusion that the whole system is worthless, just that we must take all conspiracies and information with a grain of salt – or rather a cellar of salt.
